Follow-up letter

I sent follow-up letters to all neighbors today who we haven't been able to talk to regarding the petition. If you got a letter today and would like to sign the petition, please get in touch so that we can collect your signature. Thanks!

This is what the letter said:
Dear Neighbor,

We are sending you this letter because we haven’t touched base with you regarding the residential parking permit petition. About two months ago we invited you to sign a petition to establish the block of Dolores Street between 23rd and 24th Streets as a residential parking zone.

In case you missed our first letter: Most adjacent blocks already belong to the residential parking zone Z. A block that is designated as a residential parking zone prohibits a car being parked on the street for longer than two hours during week days, unless the car displays a residential parking permit for that particular zone.

Residential parking permits can only be issued to residents who live on a block that is designated as a residential parking zone. Since our block is currently not designated as such, the residents of this block are not currently eligible to purchase permits for their cars.

We would like to establish this block as a residential parking zone so that residents of this block may purchase permits for this zone and are then able to leave their cars on this block as well as adjacent blocks for as long as they like (street cleaning times permitting).

We went door to door in October and collected signatures from the neighbors but weren’t able to get in touch with you. Please let us know if you would like to add your signature to the petition and we will arrange a time to meet you. If you do not wish to sign the petition, please let us know as well, and we will not disturb you again.

Current status

We collected just over 50 signatures in October. There are 106 residences on this block. In order to get admitted as a residential parking permit zone we need signatures from at least two thirds, which would be about 70.

Petition invitation

We sent letters to all the neighbors that live on this block today to invite them to sign the residential parking permit petition. Here is what the letter said:

How you can help
Please sign the petition. We will be going door to door on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings of next week, Oct. 24, 26 and 27, to collect signatures. If you do not want to sign the petition, please email to let us know and we will not disturb you. If you will not be home on any of the three evenings, please email as well and we will find an alternative time to see you.
